It’s no secret that Graham and I love food. We are always looking for secret spots that feature unique concepts, creative aesthetics, and new flavors. We found all that and more at Ginger & Soul. Graham stumbled across them while looking for popups in the Chicagoland area, and we knew we had to check them out. Settled right next to the Fox River in Yorkville, Ginger & Soul has a small town feel with not so small flavors. That sounds so cheesy, but it’s so true.
They definitely have a unique concept. Ginger & Soul is actually a full-service caterer who also offers Sunday brunches, supper clubs, wine events, and cooking classes. We’ve already decided we have to keep a look out for their supper clubs and wine events, and of course return for another Sunday brunch. With their perfect location along the river and eclectic decor, Ginger & Soul is so much more than a typical popup restaurant. With mismatched chairs, chalkboard walls, and the variety of art displayed everything about the aesthetic works perfectly for them.
Our brunch buffet featured major flavor with their house made cinnamon rolls with cream cheese frosting + blackberry coffee cake + organic rainbow veggie frittata + eggs anyway you like them + hash brown casserole + french toast + fruity pebbles french toast + house made breakfast sausage + bacon + fresh made buttermilk biscuits with gravy + strawberry pop tarts + assorted cupcakes + assorted childhood cereals + Colectivo coffee + bottomless mimosas and lunch boxes! Their classic brunch had the perfect amount of interesting flair. My absolute favorites were the hash brown casserole, freshly made buttermilk biscuits, blackberry coffee cake, and rosé grapefruit mimosas. Yum.
Our waitress was so friendly and even told us that they are hoping to have seats outside along the river in the spring. I can’t wait to go back when the weather is nice enough to sit outside and a walk along the river. You definitely need to check them out.
