Surprise! It’s 2017. That’s exactly how this new year feels to me, like a complete surprise. Every year goes by quickly but without a doubt, 2016 came and went in what felt like a blink of my eye.
While everyone has their opinions about 2016, for me it was a pretty good year. The year started off with bringing home little Sophie, the most lovable kitty we could have ever asked for. In March, Graham I traveled with my family for my first time out of the country to visit my brother while he was studying abroad in Ireland. We explored castles, drank Guinness, and somehow survived driving on the left side of the road. We made a few trips over the summer to Graham’s parents’ lakehouse in Michigan. I made it to a few Cubs games and cheered them on to finally win the World Series. Graham and I went on our first vacation together to Kentucky in October to visit Mammoth Cave National Park. I celebrated my 2 year anniversary working at Youtech & Associates. We squeezed in a couple Blackhawks games before the end of the year, spent time with family over the holidays and here we are today. I’m about to turn 25 and I couldn’t be more excited for what this year will bring. While I am more than happy with where I am now, I absolutely can not wait to see what happens next!
The new year brings a time for reflection and resolutions. Reflecting on 2016, I sincerely wish that I had a way to look back on every moment and memory that made my year. With each year flying by, it’s easy to forget all the little things that happen over time. And that’s where this blog comes in. For years I have admired a variety of different blogs, along the way telling myself that it was something I wanted to try out one day. Finally, that day has come. I plan on making this blog my little corner of the web where I can share my life and all of my true affections. Traveling, art, great food, crafts, design, and photography are all things I love, and want to share for not only myself but for family, friends and anyone else who stumbles across my blog.
As for my Resolutions for the new year, creating this blog is at the top of my list. More than anything else, this year, I want each day/week/month to be a fresh start. To make changes and improve upon myself whenever it feels necessary. Why wait until a New Year? My biggest resolution this year is to be the best me I can be in every aspect of my life.
Hello 2016, I can’t wait to see what you have in store for me.
