Ever since I was little, I have always loved finding a good book and getting lost in the story. Something about holding a book, turning the pages, and the therapeutic process of submerging yourself into the world of reading is something I have always loved. Lately, my high expectations of a book’s storyline has lead me to start but never finish quite a few books. If a book doesn’t catch my attention and quickly draw me in, I really struggle to keep on reading. I wish I could just push through and finish more books, but with my limited amount of free time, I just don’t have the time to waste on, in my opinion, mediocre books. That’s where my reading list becomes necessary, a selection of books I’m intrigued by and excited to get started reading.
And so, with high hopes that I can finish more books this year than I have in the past, I’ve started my reading list for myself to keep on reading. After starting a book at the beginning of the year and completely losing interest halfway through, I realized that a reading list is necessary to keep me on track with my 10 book goal for the year. I’ve wasted two months trying to finish one book only to finally give up, so I definitely need a list to keep me moving forward. If I start a book I don’t like, I have to just stop and try another. Because finding those books you love is totally worth it, even if there are some duds along the way. I am hopeful that I’ve selected what will become some of my new favorite reads. My reading list so far is just 5 books, slowly but surely I’ll make it to the ten, I promise. Here they are:
The Girls by Emma Cline
Tampa by Alyssa Nutting
The Girl Without a Name by Sandra Block
The Woman in Cabin 10 by Ruth Ware
Never Let Me Go by Kazuo Ishiguro
