Saying goodbye to a pet is never an easy thing to do. We come to love their unique personalities, unconditional love, and undying loyalty, only to have them gone from us far too soon. Ellie was as perfect as they come, a happy, well-behaved, goofball of yellow fur. Lots and lots of fur.
I will never forget her silly puppy run, love for time spent on the patio, and her overwhelming excitement for a walk. I am lucky to have made so many memories over the years with Ellie. From the day we picked her up, as a shy little puppy, to her adventures in the countryside swimming and playing, to her last Christmas, eager to rip open her presents.
The devastating realization that she won’t be there running to greet me anymore will take some getting used to. But I am so grateful for all that she brought to my life. Nothing compares to the experience of having a childhood pet, and no words can describe what it truly feels like to lose one.
“Having a dog will bless you with many of the happiest days of your life and one of the worst.”
