Happy Monday! I hope your weekend was just as perfect as mine was. It felt like the first real weekend of summer and it has me so excited for weekends to come. Friday we started off our weekend at the Two Brothers Summer Festival with great beer and great music. I fell in love with their new Coconut beer, Pahoehoe, and also finally found a tart beer that isn’t too sour for me. In The Flesh Pineapple was my sour beer of choice at the specialty beer tent, which was definitely Graham’s favorite part of the event. From barrel aged to fruity, their specialty releases were phenomenal.
I started Saturday off with community yoga class at Lululemon downtown Naperville. I try to go every weekend I’m free because well.. you can’t say no to free yoga. After cleaning off our patio for the season, we spent most of the afternoon relaxing. Even Sophie got to enjoy some time out in the sun in her harness, which she still hates but she puts up with it to be outside with us.
Finally, we headed back to Two Brothers Summer Festival, had some awesome veggie tacos, elotes and of course, more beer. All the bands were great, with a bunch of up and coming bands and Saint Motel on Friday, but X Ambassadors seriously stole the show Saturday. They played some hits, some covers and brought tons of energy to the stage. It was the best way to end the amazing Two Brothers Summer Festival.
Sunday we started off with my favorite breakfast, homemade sweet potato and egg skillet. We headed to the Kane County Flea Market, which has become our first weekend of the month tradition. It was a successful trip. We got tons of flowers and a couple metal buckets to pot them in. Graham scored two vintage microscopes from the 1920s in working condition. Nerd alert, but they really do look awesome.
After making our weekly grocery shopping trip we spent the evening potting all the flowers, prepping food for the week, and trying a couple new recipes from my SkinnyTaste Fast & Slow cookbook. The Grilled Cheese with Havarti, Brussel Sprouts, and Apple paired perfectly with the Cream of Zucchini Soup. There’s nothing like a delicious meal to finish off a busy day.
We ended the weekend with a movie, The Big Short. It’s one I’ve been wanting to watch for a while now. A perfect weekend is sad when it comes to an end, but it makes me excited for a new week. Plus, when the Bachelorette will be on, Mondays aren’t so bad.
