Nothing makes me happier than a chilled night in with a bottle of wine (okay, maybe a couple), a cheese board and of course, some friends. Whether any of us are are celebrating, struggling, or just catching up, wine night with friends is always a good idea. It doesn’t matter where we are, how good the wine is, or what’s happening around us. Spending time with friends is something I am always willing to make time for. Add in a good cheese board and I’ll be there no matter what.
Sadly, in our crazy busy schedules, I don’t get to see all my friends as much as I would like. I think we took our time in college for granted when we all lived together, or at least only a short distance away. Quickly that all changed, and now I find that making time for friends is something which takes a significant amount of effort. Finding a time that fits all of our extremely difficult schedules, a location that works for everyone, AND to be able to stick to the plans through ever-changing deadlines and last minute commitments is a challenging feat. And yet, somehow we manage to do it.
Hours fly by, and conversations flow as if we were never apart. It’s moments like these random “wine night with friends” get togethers that I never want to take for granted. Although it was just a seemingly normal wine with friends kind of night spent chatting and indulging, it’s nights like these that I try to remember. While it’s easy to hold onto the memories of major events and big get-togethers, something about the normalcy of a casual wine night seems just as important to me. We all need to find more in the ordinary. Find more in your every day. Find more moments to treasure, no matter how small.
